    Great info. I had a hard time last season growing heirloom tomatoes. They had bad bloom rot that just devastated the fruit. I am going to try grafting to a cherry tomato.

    Central Texas, here. Hey, y'all! My dog followed me into the garden today (80 lb. Husky/ Pitbull mix). She lied down next to the radish patch and commenced to grazing while i was manually pollinating the sqaush. Bi$#ch ate "bout a dozen radishes while my back was turned. Can't be mad. She eats what I eat, every day! Plus, she hangs out with her goat friends, who teach her how to browse.

    Plant comfrey (Bocking-14 cultivar) everywhere, it's a free, deep mining fertilizer plant that provides shade around feeder root zones of trees also. I've planted 5 comfrey plants around every tree and next to each planter bed, and voila, free fertilizer plant that requires no maintenance whatsoever. Then there's the fermented comfrey option that lasts years and gets better each year.

    • @JamesTyrell
      @JamesTyrell День тому

      @@crownofhair Yeah mate, it's such a diamond of a plant and you can, like I did, create 400+ plants from 10mm cuttings of the comfrey root from 2 big plants. Comfrey is very high in silica also which is REALLY hard to source organically. Silica gives plants its "armour", strengthening cellular walls.

    I know that your fertilizer brand is OMRI certified. 👍 When it comes to blood and bone meal, I’m glad that there are OMRI certified options. I wouldn’t want to use a fertilizer from a non-organic commercial factory farm where they feed their animals grains or soy and corn that have been sprayed with glyphosate and other pesticides. Although, making your own is an option if you already eat meat from pasture raised animals or wild caught fish. I would not use a fish emulsion because it goes through a heating process. Instead, I would want to use a fish hydrolysate like the Neptunes Harvest brand, that is also OMRI certified. Worm castings and worm tea is also beneficial. Probably with the fish hydrolysate and the worm tea spray, you’re going to want to rinse your vegetables. I know it cost money to get that certification and it seems like it’s an unfair process, but otherwise the food system is kind of a mess and it’s difficult for consumers to know where the product is from without certifications. ❤❤❤👑🐶

  • @BeautifuLakesStreamsBiologists

    We encourage our clients to grow some crops on the shorelines of our ponds and lakes we build. Since these are wetlands, they actually fertilize and build soils by themselves. The ponds water the "garden". Of course those shorelines are designed to grow rare species of native flowering plants.
